Better Late Than Never

Hello.....anyone out there?

It's been a whirlwind weekend with little time at the computer, or at the farmhouse for that matter.  The trio below completed their second Spartan Race on Saturday.  4 miles of running and 25 obstacles made up this course.  As you can see, it is a messy endeavor and quite challenging at that.  The girl of the house is on the left, the farmer man is in the middle, and the young man of the house is on the right.  The young man had already finished the race and had hosed himself off by the time the other two were finished.  It was so messy you could even elect to be pressure washed....seriously.

The girl and her dad always stay together and do a great job of finishing.  The young man, however, is all about the competition.  This race, in a field of 2900 men, he finished 97th.

Would it surprise you to know that after this crazy event the girl went and pitched a softball game?  She also spent the entire day, today, pitching and playing ball with her travel team.

Squeezing all the life out of summer we can.

Thankful Thursday

Thankful this Thursday for new opportunities.  The new school year is about two weeks away and I am looking forward to being the new Reading Interventionist for my school.  What does this mean?  I won't be teaching in a regular classroom, but will be seeing students with reading issues, working with them, and tracking their progress.  I am excited about the change and ready to make a difference in new ways.

What are you thankful for this Thursday?  Let me know, big or small, it doesn't matter.  Link up and share with everyone!

Shots From the Week

Last week I spent a few days in Florida and I thought it was hot.  Little did I know that it would be hotter when I came back to Kentucky.  You might say it is:
Hotter than blue blazes....
Hotter than the hinges of hell....
Hotter than a $2 pistol....
There are other phrases I could add here, but I will ere on the side of caution.

Right now all plants are surviving and the weeds are doing ever better.  Go figure.

Our apple trees are flourishing.  Our two peach trees bit the dust a few years ago.  Wish they were still with us.

The Gladiolus are blooming.

Finally, the piece de resistance of the week.  Here we have a load of pavers that will be the edging for our new family fire pit area.  The pea gravel, for the "floor" has been delivered and it just need to all be put into place.  We removed an above ground pool and are using the circular space for this project.

Of course this is  happening at the hottest time of the year.

Any volunteers?

What a Week

Straight out of the camera and the archives, comes this photo.  What a week!  The girl of the house had an unexpected free weekend from travel softball, so we headed out to the house of the Nana and Papa in Florida.

We left the gentlemen in charge of cows, flowers, and cooking.  We had a few days at the beach, shopping, movies, etc....

Today involved a lot of laundry and, "catching up", if you know what I mean....

Friday Randoms

A wonderful vantage point from the top of the National Cathedral.  Was I supposed to be up there.....I hope so.

Being a fan of Ina Garten I would love to take a walk inside of her New York City apartment.  It is for sale....

Proof that artistic gifts can show themselves at any age.

If you can't get a massage, just watching one can make you relaxed.  Seriously, it's a thing.

Leaving you with my morning workout music.

Thankful Thursday

Thankful this Thursday for life in the slow lane.  About two minutes from my own farmette, I had to stop and let several chickens cross the road.  This little thing was the last to make it, and she was in no hurry.  Her owner has many chickens in various states of growth.  They all cluck around the yard, eat grubs in the garden, and co-exist with two terriers.  Quite a feat, I think.

What are you thankful for this Thursday?
Give it a shout out!!
